This game is worth so much more than the price tag. Easily one of the best PS1 retro throwbacks on Itch right now. If you're a fan of the original Resident Evil or Silent Hill games, you'll love this (EVEN THE TANK CONTROLS!). Eagerly awaiting anything else from this dev.
Fantastic fun and really quite intense. It certainly has a Puppet Combo vibe. I liked the use of the interference and his scissor sounds as he stalks you in the background. I hope we see "The Snipper" again.
I would like to say first this game was well worth more than the price says. I had so much fun playing this, and really enjoyed the pacing. My favorite aspect had to be the level designs and scale! They were really surprising and really made the game feel open. Keep up the great work!
This game was pretty perfect until the killer really showed up. I almost had a run-in with him before you need to and the way that he sometimes walks and sometimes run while patrolling is really unnerving, much more so than the snipping sounds because it makes you think he might have spotted you.
So the stealth is good but the chases are not for a few reasons.
1: You can take one hit, a second one kills you, but it felt like at least nine out of ten times he'll attack you twice in rapid succession so it might as well have been one.
2: The killer is too fast, I know Puppet Combo inspired this game and he usually does this too (but didn't in his best game, Murder House,) but it feels neither like 80s slasher villains who almost always just walks toward their victim or sneaks up on them, nor is it all that fun when like I said, you almost always get one-shotted. I actually think the only place where I was able to lose him was in the stairwell, making all the hiding spots useless, especially since just hiding around corners worked fine for the stealth.
I'd have made him slower and just removed the health system entirely since adding more health would instead make the Snipper seem weak. Alternately, make him loose your trail quicker since there's no way to actually make much distance between the two of you.
I liked the vhs static when you were close to the killer, it made for good situational awareness. The chromatic aberration really didn't feel like it was from a vhs though, felt quite digital.
The map stayed saved after you did something, so if you open a door, get killed and sent back to a checkpoint, the door will still be open after that, and quite frankly that's also the only way I could see myself getting past the killer in the scissor corridor as he is now but that shouldn't have to be the case.
I first tried it with an Xbox 360 controller but it only worked with the analog stick, not with the D-pad so I noped out on that, the keyboard controls were all good.
But yeah, if you nerf the killer and instead make the penalty of dying a bit harsher I think it would improve the game a ton. The atmosphere and stealth stuff is already really good.
OK. My skin was crawling through the entire playthrough. Knowing that the snipper was just constantly lurking was terrifying. The sound of his scissors was SO anxiety-inducing that I started freaking out before I even saw the killer. Great job on the ambiance. You really nailed it. I want to see a continuation of this game for sure. It has SO much potential.
Very promising game. Those who enjoy survival horror will love to play this one. It will likely expand. I just missed a map and a minimalist inventory. I recommend without fear! TOP!
I'm a big fan of your retro-shooter Aske, and now you've created a PSX-style, tank control, survival horror game too?! That's amazing-- I really love your style. Thanks again for the wonderfully scary experience!
Just finished this game's main plot (assuming there is only one).
You did fantastic on making the world look and feel very scary, the silouette's of the cardboard cut-outs alongside the lighting of the game was a very smart idea! Everything looked and felt creepy. The game also controlled smoothly for a tank control game alongside the camera angles being very good to help that fact.
However, I didn't feel properly challenged in the game as whenever the Snipper would kill me, I would be brought back to a very recent checkpoint. Because of that I didn't feel AS scared when it involved the Snipper. Some mechanics of the chase I feel should be tweaked a bit too. I feel like it's very hard to not be killed by the Snipper when opening the door in the hall of scissors.
Overall, I would love to see what you make in the future! This game was very aesthetically and enviromentally creepy!
The game is really very good! Hope it gets the attention
it deserves! Did you tag it under horror? I
only found it through your twitter page.
Hope you do another game like this. 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm just about to make a YouTube vid about this. It seems popular. Hopefully this is my big break guys. Wish me luck!
This game was intense! Had my heart pounding whenever the screen went static. Really tight and well-paced game. Good atmosphere.
Also, that end credit track was awesome. Anyone know where I can find it?
Thank you for playing. The track was made for the game by Skulptur, you can find it under More Information, right above the comments section.
Sweet! Thank you. I failed to look as far as the links section...

I loved this game, the retro graphics style is awesome, and the best part is that there are checkpoints in case you die, highly recommended congrats!

Are you planning on releasing the game on Steam/equipping the downloads with the Steam keys?
Yes. The game will be released on Steam on Friday the 13th of May and if you own it on Itch you will receive a key for the other platform as well.
Glad to hear that, thanks!
