This was a surprisingly terrifying and enjoyable experience. I had a few minor gripes but overall this was a great indie horror game. I have an edited play through of my full experiences here:
I don't know what I was expecting, but I know I didn't expect this game to be as amazing as it is. I give an in depth review in my video so please check it out if this interests you, but I will say that I found almost every aspect of this game absolutely amazing! Compelling storyline, great graphics, intense jump scares, this game has it all. I highly recommend checking it out! Oh, and if you enjoy my video , please support the channel by subscribing ! Thanks so much guys xox
One of my new favourite of these style of games, super well stylised, not painfully difficult but more than enough to be terrifying, clearly a lot of effort was put in to the game and it shows, super well done! :)
Got the game on Steam and enjoyed it thoroughly, fixed camera and tank controls, mixed with the sound of scissors snipping constantly had me on the edge of my seat! Nicely done.
Oh man, I loved this Game! I wish it was longer just because I'm in loved with lore! The fact that you can hear snipping and footsteps slowly getting faster and faster is so anxiety-inducing. I hope there is another chapter or even another game you are working on soon. Great job and can't wait to see more.
- The Snipper's first four murders happened some time ago and the police have already removed all the body parts from the scene, however, you can still find fresh limbs of multiple people scattered all over the place, which means that the cardboard cutouts are from his previous victims and weren't collected as evidence by the police, but the fresh limbs belonged to the recent ones, implying that he's killed at least 2-3 more people shortly before Adam and Kevin break in
- All the items you use throughout the game were left there by the Snipper in a specific order, with the express purpose of giving you a chance to escape
- He's a cannibal, as evidenced by the words "saddy meal" written near the kitchen that contains someone's viscera and limbs and a hacksaw
- He hangs Kevin's body in front of a shutter that the police approach as a way to taunt both the police and Adam, or to potentially frame Adam as the murderer...
To top it all off, his voice sounds demonic and distorted, as if he's not even human. It's just a speculation, considering it could've just been aesthetically motivated, i. e. to make him more intimidating and the overall experience more surreal. What does he say, anyway? I could only recognize bits and snippets, but from what I could distinguish, he mentions making Adam into a "friend" and something along the lines of "There's no place to hide!".
I watched a playthrough of this and thought it was wonderful. So many horror games on here are half-baked, but you REALLY captured the spirit of the PSX era of games. I loved the old Silent Hill, Clock Tower, and Fatal Frame games and the puzzles and quest-fetching reminded me of that. Your homage was spot-on and carefully rendered. Great atmosphere. Just enough campy and corniness blended with serious scares. Fabulous tribute. I'd love to see you attempt a longer game with a similar PSX-era concept.
I love the use of silence in this game. You really nailed the feeling of being isolated in an abandoned building with a killer lurking around. There were some moments where I died without a real chance to survive but that doesn't detract from the great atmosphere you setup in the beginning of the game.
I do wonder what drove the killer to do something like that in the ending though. He didn't seem like the type of person to do that but I might have missed some notes?
I've played quite a few retro-inspired horror games recently and this one stands out as one of the best. Tight tank controls. Clear sound cues to let you know when the killer is nearby or has left the area. Fantastic visuals. Challenging, but not impossible. Also, the story unfolds in an intuitive way so there isn't a bunch of time spent wandering around wondering what to do next. Bang-up job!

!!!SPOILERS!!!
So, let me get this straight:

Cmon now a killer chasing me with scissors, you guys need to cut it out! Overall the game had me screaming like a little girl. Great work! 👍
